Traditional Chinese Medicine
Encompasses a variety of health care therapies and is in fact a way of looking at medicine that integrates all therapies in its understanding. Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine are the most popular in the United States.
Other aspects include: Diet, Nutrition, Lifestyle choices, Tai Ji (physical exercise), Qi Gong (breath exercise), Tui Na (therapeutic massage).
How Does This System Work?
It has been scientifically determined that human beings are actually unique bio-energetic systems. For thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine has acknowledged that Qi, which means vital life force or in the west often referred to as “energy”, flows through all things. Energy (Qi) flows along pathways (known as meridians) in the human body, which are related to the organs and the tendo-muscular system. When the balance of this energy is disturbed due to either trauma, poor diet, medications, stress, environmental factors, or excessive emotional issues, pain or illness results. Traditional Chinese Medicine focuses on correcting these energetic imbalances by breaking up any obstruction and encouraging an even flow of Qi, which stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
What Does Acupuncture Do?
Acupuncture is a medical system that has been used to diagnose, treat and prevent illness for over 23 centuries. Acupuncture can remedy acute or chronic ailments, relieve pain, enhance recuperative powers, and strengthen the immune system. In a Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment, practitioner will diagnose or differentiate your condition with a thorough examination that will include an interpretation through medical history, pulse and tongue diagnosis. Practitioner may also use the following adjunct techniques within your session: Moxibustion (heat), Cupping (suction), ear acupuncture, electrical stimulation, or manual manipulation of the points.
What is a Treatment Like?
Extremely fine and flexible needles are placed at specific points on meridians leading to the organs, muscles and nerves of the body. When the needles are inserted you may experience a sensation of tingling, numbness or warmth. Some even feel no sensation at all. People are surprised to find that treatments are actually quite relaxing.
The initial visit takes about one hour and 15 minutes and includes a complete consultation and treatment. Follow-up treatments lasting about thirty minutes, may be scheduled twice a week. As symptoms improve, fewer visits are required. Within five to ten sessions, most of the patients will gain beneficial results. Chronic conditions may require more extended treatment.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Ancient Chinese herbal formulas are as effective now as they were when first introduced more than 2,000 years ago. Most formulas consist of two to eighteen different types of herbs. Formulas treat a wide variety of symptoms while stimulating the body’s natural healing process. Hospital studies prescribing individualized complex herbal formulas have demonstrated excellent results with patients who fail to respond to conventional pharmaceutical treatments.
Modern techniques transform formulas into pills, capsules, granules, or tinctures to make them easier and more convenient to ingest. Chinese Herbal Medicine is considered most safe and effective when prescribed by a qualified practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Safety
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine are safe medical procedure and are well known for their efficacy and lack of side-effects when administered by a qualified practitioner. Only pre-sterilized, disposable needles are used in this clinic.

For the page of testimonials:
My name is John and I am an African-American male that has lived with sinus congestion for years. Also, I have not been sleeping well at night and I did not want to take medication for something that I should be doing naturally. One day I was sharing this with a co-worker and she recommended that I consider acupuncture.
First of all, I am not one who likes needles or the pain that comes with them. After some thought, I decided to go for a consultation session with Dr. Hong Lin, the acupuncturist, in my naturopathic doctor’s office. During my consultation session, Dr. Lin informed me that acupuncture could help my sinuses and my sleeping or lack of sleep. She also assured me that it would not hurt; of course my thought was…RIGHT.
Well, I have to tell you, Dr. Lin was correct. It did not hurt and my sinuses and sleeping improved after a few sessions. I am breathing through my nostrils now with ease and it feels good and my sleeping is much better too. I have gone from getting two hours of sleep to almost six hours every night. I awake in the morning feeling so well rested. I feel so much more relaxed during my sessions and afterward.
I would also recommend Dr. Lin to anyone who has ever thought about acupuncture. If you have been looking for an acupuncturist really know the art of acupuncture then look not more. Dr. Lin is, in my opinion, the best acupuncturist in the area.
Regards,
-John D.
