Answers
I have Medicare, can I come there for physical therapy?
Because we are not Medicare Providers (neither in or out-of-network) we typically do not treat Medicare patients. However, if a Medicare patient chooses us for their physical therapy, we will not turn them away. As with all of our PT patients, payment in-full is due at the end of each treatment session. Medicare will not reimburse for physical therapy at TAVO Total Health but they will provide "Denial Documentation" that can be sent to secondary insurance carriers who may reimburse our services. Medicare patients who choose us over enrolled Medicare providers understand and accept that Medicare will not reimburse them.
Do I need a referral for physical therapy services?
How much do your services cost and will my insurance provider pay for them?
Physical Therapy is billed in "units" which are 15-minute treatment intervals, and most sessions are 4 units. An initial PT visit (evaluation and treatment) typically costs between $180-$240, but follow up visits are $160per visit. Fitness and Bodywork services can be purchased per session or in packages, with the price per session being less when purchased as a package.
Generally, insurance providers do not pay for bodywork or fitness services; while physical therapy is partially or fully reimbursable. It is our patients’ responsibility to contact their insurance company for their plan benefits. Physical therapy patients are given a "Superbill" to self-submit to their insurance carriers (unless patients are Medicare in which case we are unable to provide Superbills).
We also offer CareCredit to our patients and clients. CareCredit is an excellent way to pay for physical therapy, bodywork, wellness or fitness services without accruing much or any interest on the money borrowed. Please ask our office manager, Letitia, for more information on CareCredit.
Please feel free to ask for a pricing sheet. We are happy to mail or fax our pricing information to you.
I am interested in becoming a patient/client. What do I do first?
First, call to schedule your initial session. Be certain to discuss your needs with our Office Manager so she can discern what service you are requesting (physical therapy vs. massage vs. fitness, etc). Then, to expedite the processing of your file, please download the appropriate intake forms from this website and fill in the requested information. Please bring these in for your first session. Should you have any questions or concerns about the forms, please call us so that we may assist you.
Is your facility Metro accessible?
Yes, we are located a few blocks from the
Is there available parking for your facility?
Yes, The Irene building has guest parking available. Simply enter the garage labeled "Guest Parking" and tell the attendant you are here for an appointment at TAVO Total Health. The parking attendant will provide you with a parking slip that you can validate with our clinic stamp for free parking.
It is not guaranteed that parking will always be available in the Guest Parking garage, however. At times it might be necessary to find street parking so we recommend that you allow ample time to find parking if the lot is full.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least a 24-hour notification regarding session cancellations. Patients and clients who are unable to do so will be charged a 75% of the missed session fee. Fitness clients who have fitness packages will have missed sessions count against their purchased package.
We pride ourselves in being able to schedule a patient or client session as soon as possible. Missed appointments take away from our ability to achieve this goal.
Do you do home-based PT or fitness visits?
To give the best possible care, we generally see all of our PT patients and fitness clients in our facility. However, under certain circumstances, we may be able to provide PT treatments or fitness services in-home, in order to progress a patient/client to being able to attend in-clinic sessions. This service also depends on available staffing, of course.
What is the appropriate dress/attire for sessions?
For fitness sessions, appropriate attire consists of athletic shoes and comfortable/mobile clothing. We like our cleints to feel comfortable in whatever style/type of fitness apparel they choose to wear.
For physical therapy patients, proper attire depends on what treatment type is being utilized. For the initial evaluation/session we ask that men have a pair of loose shorts and women have a jog-bra or sports-bra and a pair of loose shorts. We need to be able to observe the spine/posture and also need access to the skin for initial Myofascial Release based treatment. At the first PT session we will discuss proper attire for upcoming appointments.
Massage Therapy clients will remove their clothing and be draped (under a sheet/blanket) for privacy during their session.
